In August of 2023, the Kenneth Leary Taylor Teacher Grant at the Peninsula Community Foundation was established in hopes of helping other teachers from elementary through high school that share Mr. Taylors passion of teaching science in their classrooms, by providing grants of up to $500 toward a current project, program or equipment that will enhance the classroom curriculum.Eligibility Requirements:​Must be teaching science (excluding Computer Science) to students elementary-high school, on the Virginia Peninsula.Must have a specific project or program otherwise not funded by the schools. General classroom supplies are excluded.>
The family of Patricia Barresi has established a grant program in her memory to assist educators at B.C. Charles, Hilton, Katherine G. Johnson and Stoney Run Elementary Schools in Newport News, VA. Mrs. Barresi served as the Principal at Hilton and B.C. Charles Elementary Schools, finishing her career as an Elementary School Consultant and Coach. In her final years, Patricia fought a valiant fight against ALS. Now, her family wishes to honor her passion for elementary educators and the children that will benefit from their tireless work. ​
​Teachers at the aforementioned schools are encouraged to apply to receive a $500 grant to help support their classroom projects and initiatives. ​Deadline to apply for the 1st quarter grant is March 21, 2025.
Beginning July 1, 2025, if the 2025/26 school year will be their first year as a full time teacher they may apply to help fund their purchase of classroom supplies.  Educators must teach in the above mentioned elementary schools in Newport News, VA.

If selected to receive a grant, the teacher’s employment and grant project must be verified by the principal, superintendent or other school official. The grant money will be sent to the school. The deadline to apply for the new teacher grant for the 2025/26 academic school year is August 20, 2025.

An individual can only apply if he/she has applied to The Apprentice School of Newport News Shipbuilding, has been made an offer and has a start date for an apprenticeship.
Objective: To support aspiring metrologists, technicians, engineers, and skilled trades professionals in advancing their education and career development within the field of coordinate metrology.

 (the "Fund") was created to assist employees following a natural disaster or series of sudden or unexpected events or circumstances beyond an employee's reasonable control. The Fund's primary focus is responding to emergency needs in order for employees to meet short-term, basic living necessities. The Fund seeks to provide financial assistance to address uninsured needs not covered by other Foodbank or community programs otherwise available to the employee.

The Canon Virginia Emergency Fund will provide monetary support to assist members following a natural disaster or series of sudden or unexpected events or circumstances beyond the member's reasonable control.

The Fund's primary focus is responding to emergency needs in order for the Company's members to meet basic living necessities. The Fund seeks to provide financial assistance to address uninsured needs not covered by other Company or community programs.

The Newport News Shipbuilding Employee's Hardship Fund (the "Fund") provides short-term monetary support to assist employees following a natural disaster or series of sudden or unexpected events or circumstances beyond an employee's reasonable control, which is not covered by insurance, or insurance which is or was otherwise available to the employee, or by other NNS or community programs.


The Fund's primary focus is responding to emergency needs in order for NNS's employees to meet short-term, basic living necessities. The Fund seeks to provide financial assistance to address uninsured needs not covered by other NNS or community programs otherwise available to the employee. This program is not to be used for long-term assistance.
