Brief Description:

The Michael J. Tylavsky, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, named for the former Principal of Tabb High School. Seniors from Bruton, Grafton, Tabb and York High Schools as well as York River Academy are eligible to apply for the non-renewable $500 award. Mike Tylavsky was a highly respected and admired educator and school administrator in York County, where he retired after 26 years of dedicated service. "Mr. T." subsequently served as Principal at North Moore High School in North Carolina until his death from cancer in 2007 at age 58. He was admired for his strength, straightforwardness, and for teaching his students to "do the right thing." His innovative thinking was credited with improving the lives of countless students and impacting the entire community.
